Surround your heart with steel bars,
And you shall not be pained.
Find true love and let it fade,
And never love again.
Alienate your heart from all,
And it shall never break.
Let it love, but if it's lost,
It shall forever ache.
But keep the heart from finding love,
And lonesomeness prevails.
For if you close yourself to all,
Your soul shall never sail.
Entomb your heart in walls of stone,
And not let it be touched,
Then never have the feeling that,
We all long for so much.
